Organizationally, the Department is made up of six divisions which include: Air and Waste, Land, Forestry, Water, Customer and Employee Services, and Enforcement and Science.

The Central Office is located downtown in Madison, Wisconsin.

To carry out the policies of each of the six programs in DNR so that the needs of local citizens can best be met, the state is divided into five regions:

• Northern
• West Central
• South Central
• Northeast
• Southeast
