You don't have to look far to find ways to improve air quality. Look no further than your own backyard. Consider these air pollution preventing tips...
Replace gas-powered mowers and leaf blowers with electric, rechargeable or manual equipment.
- Keep mower blades sharp and undersides clean - Your lawn will look better and your mower will be more efficient.

Use a spill-proof, low-emitting gas can.
- Mow less often. It saves gas and is better for your lawn.
- Plant slow growing grass seed mixtures and use more native plants. Try natural landscaping to minimize lawn mowing and fertilizers.
- Don't burn leaves or trash. Compost or recycle instead.
Use an electric or chimney barbecue starter (available at your local home supply store), instead of lighter fluid.
