Regulatory Performance

In Wisconsin, we recognize our air, water, forests, fish and wildlife as natural assets that greatly contribute to our economy, our health and our quality of life.

We believe our clean environment and abundant, high-quality land and water resources are important reasons why people want to locate their families and businesses here.

To safeguard our natural assets and balance their use, the Department of Natural Resources issues environmental permits and makes environmental decisions that allow businesses to flourish while meeting standards set to protect public health and the environment.

From the time we began issuing permits and giving approvals more than three decades ago, we have greatly improved and refined our processes. Our performance reports are testament to the success of our regulatory improvement efforts.
