2008 Angler Education Workshops
Please check back from time to time for updates to this schedule. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free of charge and include lunch or dinner, however, we do have a $15 workshop commitment fee to ensure good attendance by registrants. Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in so that we may begin on time. If your plans change, please notify us so that we may plan accordingly and refund your workshop commitment fee.
To schedule a volunteer or teacher training workshop in your community, please contact Theresa Stabo (608) 266-2272, Aquatic Resources Educator. We need a minimum of 8 to 12 adult participants, depending on location, to hold a workshop.

Summer Teacher Enhancement Courses
These courses are offered for university credit and provide in-depth explorations of fisheries, aquatic resources and environmental education methods. Field experiences that bring teachers into close contact with Wisconsin's lakes and streams highlight these courses. Stipends may be available to currrent Wisconsin teachers to help defray teacher expenses.

- Explore the Great Lakes - Sally Ride Academy
- Date: June 23-27
Place: West Allis
Join an exploration of the watery world of the Great Lakes and discover ways to integrate Great Lakes activities into your existing curriculum. This course will provide you with hands-on classroom activities, a field day on Lake Michigan aboard the H.S. Denis Sullivan schooner out of Pier Wisconsin, and information from a variety of speakers about the Great Lakes with an emphasis on Lake Michigan. You'll receive a boatload of resources, swap activity ideas with other teachers, encounter Great Lakes fish, hear stories about the Great Lakes, study Great Lakes water issues, and maybe even learn a sailor song or two. Activities are compatible with instruction in science, social studies, language arts, and reading and are great for students of all abilities.
Open to K-8 teachers for 1 or 2 graduate credits through Cardinal Stritch University. However, high school teachers are allowed with approval from the instructor. One FREE GRADUATE CREDIT is available to the first 25 Wisconsin teachers.

Place: Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay
Dive in to Wisconsin's fisheries and aquatic resources with natural resource professionals to guide your experience. Come away with a boatload of materials ready for the classroom.

- Where You Live-Explore Nature While You Teach and Learn - Northwoods Academy
- Date: August 4-8
Place: Rhinelander
After great successes at the Sally Ride and Washburn Academies, Wisconsin DNR will bring their weeklong "Where you Live" workshop to the northwoods this summer. Learn how you can bring the wonder of the outdoors to your students and help them become lovers and stewards of our air, water and land. Get hands-on experiences and a backpack full of free classroom resources to help you teach science, reading, language arts, and social studies with an environmental theme. We'll get you outside and keep you moving as we equip you with a plethora of the best contemporary environmental education resources available. Targeted to K-8 teachers and available for 2 graduate credits through Viterbo University. The first 15 participants will have $100 of their course registration fee waived AND the first 20 Wisconsin teachers can receive $100 toward graduate credits. To register visit Northwoods Academy.
