Wisconsin Fish FarmersInformation on cooperative agreements for sucker egg collection and the bidding process for unmet stocking needs. Cooperative Agreements for Sucker Egg Collection 2009We will start accepting requests for 2009 Sucker Cooperative Agreements from Fish Farmers on March 16, 2009. To request an agreement please provide the local fisheries biologist for the county the waterbody is located in the following information. Agreements will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. In the case of a tie, the total number of eggs the resource can provide will be split between the Fish Farmers seeking an agreement. The Department will not issue agreements on waters that are known to be infected or suspected to be infected with Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS). Please refer to this VHS web site to see a map of waters that are in these two classes. Disinfection of eggs is a requirement of the agreement.
Unmet Stocking NeedsThe Department has supplied a list of “unmet needs” to the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association to gain assistance with meeting stocking goals for the 2009-2010 production cycle. The list identifies shortfalls in the DNR fish production system where fish stocking permits can be issued to help meet an identified need for stocked fish. This list represents an opportunity for private fish farms to work with local groups and individuals to buy fish from private fish farmers to complete the stocking of DNR approved fish stocking quotas. We will begin processing bid submissions on March 20th, 2009 and will accept bids throughout the spawning season.
