Best Management Practices Workshops
Forestry Best Management Practices (BMP) Workshops are a crucial component in the Forestry BMP Program, helping to protect water quality in Wisconsin. The workshops serve to clarify how, where, and when to appropriately apply Forestry BMPs. Over 5,000 people have attended the workshops since 1994. The day-long workshops consist of a morning classroom session where Forestry BMPs are introduced and explained. In the afternoon, attendees travel to field sites to see how Forestry BMPs are implemented and the positive effects that Forestry BMPs have on both water quality and on overall site conditions. The field portion of the workshop helps clarify the principles and practices discussed in the morning session. Forestry professionals, such as foresters and loggers, attend BMP training workshops as part of Wisconsin's SFI ® training curriculum. Landowners are strongly encouraged to attend as well. The workshops are offered by the Forest Industry Safety & Training Alliance, or FISTA, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. If you are interested in attending a BMP workshop, you will find the schedule below. Additional information, such as workshop descriptions, workshop schedules, and workshop registration, is available at FISTA's website: http://www.fistausa.org [exit DNR]. To attend a workshop, please use the registration form on FISTA's website. Upcoming BMP Workshops in 2009
