Statewide Forest Plan 2004

Plan Implementation

While the Division of Forestry coordinated the development of the 2004 Statewide Forest Plan, implementation of the plan is now spearheaded by the Wisconsin Council of Forestry and involves a number of stakeholders.

The council has taken the lead in a number of activities related to the plan. In particular, the council's leadership has created several task groups to create best management practices (BMPs) for addressing key forestry issues, such as the exotic invasive species that threaten forest ecology; the environmental implications of fragmented forestlands; and the potential of woody biomass. As leaders in environmental organizations, education and the forest industry, members of these committees are working to ensure Wisconsin's forests are sustainable and available for all to enjoy.
