Town of LaPointe (Madeline Island)

Note: The Town of LaPointe/Madeline Island is the only part of Ashland County that is part of the state quarantine for gypsy moths. Because the island is part of the state quarantine, gypsy moth aerial spraying is provided by the DNR’s Suppression Spray Program. (The remainder of Ashland County is not quarantined. and is served by the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s Slow the Spread Program.) Town of LaPointe/Madeline Island residents/property owners who want their properties will want to provide detailed information about the gypsy moth problems on their properties to one (or more) of these individuals: to Patty Hobin, Town of LaPointe clerk, at 715.747-6913 (lapointe@cheqnet.net); to Greg Nelson, Town of LaPointe chairperson, at 715.747-6913 (tbqn@townoflapointewi.gov ); and/or to Ashland County Supervisor Bud Holt, chairperson of the Ashland County Forestry and Recreation Committee, 715.769-3315. The decision to participate in the DNR Suppression Program will originate with the town.
