    Spray activities will likely take place in mid-to-late May or early June, depending on the weather. Most blocks will be treated with one application of the bacterial insecticide Foray (bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki, also referred to as Btk). Some may be treated with one application of the viral insecticide Gypchek (gypsy moth nucleopolyhedrosis virus).

    Starting in May of each year, there are many ways to access frequent updates about spray activities and locations.

    • Gypsy Moth Information Line - (800) 642-6684 (or 1-800-642-MOTH). Callers can press #1 to hear updated information on scheduled spray activities (recording available at all times), or press #2 to be connected with DNR staff from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., 7 days a week for more specific questions regarding gypsy moth management.
    • DNR Gypsy Moth Email - you may also send the DNR your questions in an email to DNRFRGypsymoth@wisconsin.gov. Emails are checked frequently, but due to the volume of messages May - July, it could take up to a few days for you to receive a response.
