Private Landowner Forestry Assistance Program Guide

Note: The following information provides a brief comparison of the programs. It is not intended to be a complete list of rules and practices available through each program. The practices listed must be recommended and approved by the technical agencies listed.

The information provided is a quick reference to federal, state, and local cost share conservation programs in Wisconsin. While financial assistance to plan and implement forestry practices on private lands is never guaranteed, each year the federal government offers some incentive programs. The programs vary in eligibility requirements and the specific types of practices encouraged. Funding for the federal programs (CRP, WHIP and EQIP) change each year as Congress works to produce a budget. The agency listed as administering the program is the best source of the most current information on a program. For the landowner who has patience, these programs often are very helpful in getting the technical and financial assistance they need to get started.
