Environmental Quality Incentives Program - EQIP

  • Federal Program administered by the NRCS with NRCS and DNR Forestry as technical agencies
  • Up to 75 % cost share - At least 65 % of dollars allocated to priority areas, remainder available statewide. (5 or 10 year contracts)
  • Maximum cost shares set by Federal Government currently $10,000 annually; $50,000 per contract.
  • Cost sharing available for:
    • Tree Planting
      - site preparation
      - planting stock
      - planting
    • Ecosystem Management
      - fisheries
      - prescribed burning
      - upland wildlife habitat
      - brush management
    • Erosion Control
      (on Agricultural land)
      - diversions
      - waterways
      - windbreaks
      - contour strips
      - terraces
    • Agricultural Waste Management
    • Stream Buffers

Note: Within priority areas, local work group determines practices available and cost share rates.
