Welcome to the Bureau for Remediation and Redevelopment Tracking System (BRRTS) on the Web

BRRTS on the Web RR Sites Map

BRRTS on the Web is the DNR’s on-line database that provides information about contaminated properties and other activities related to the investigation and cleanup of contaminated soil or groundwater in Wisconsin. BRRTS on the Web is part of the DNR’s Contaminated Lands Environmental Action Network (CLEAN), an inter-linked network of DNR databases tracking information on different contaminated land activities.

BRRTS on the Web includes (but is not limited to) the following contamination data:

  • investigations and cleanups of contaminated soil and/or groundwater;
  • spills;
  • Superfund sites; and
  • DNR funding assistance.

You can also view information from BRRTS on the Web via the RR Program’s map-based system, the RR Sites Map.

First-time User?

Please review information under the "BRRTS Resources" menu on the left side of this web page. Here you will find a glossary, disclaimers and search instructions. New users are encouraged to read the "Basic Search Help" page.

Cross-database Linkage

The Activity Detail pages provide links to the Department of Commerce Tracker database, to the DNR Solid and Hazardous Waste database (SHWIMS) and to the DNR map-based RR Sites Map.

Problems?

If you can't find activities in BRRTS, please contact one of our Regional Program Associates. If you have suggestions regarding BRRTS, please send an email to Janet Sausen.

Contacting DNR Staff

To contact DNR staff assigned to an Activity, click on the project manager's name on the Activity Details page (you must have an email client installed on your computer, such as Microsoft Outlook). You may also look for our DNR Remediation & Redevelopment staff County Contacts [PDF, 36KB].

Uncontaminated Sites

BRRTS includes some locations where an environmental investigation has found contamination with little or no impact to human health and the environment, or no contamination at all. These entries may be found under three different Activity types: Abandoned Containers, No RR Action Required and some activities under General Property.

Health Information

For information related to potential health impacts from contaminated sites, please see the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) Environmental Health Resources [exit DNR] web page. It includes toxic chemical fact sheets.
