Area residents talk with DNR and city of Milwaukee staff at the April 22 Open House in Milwaukee.

More than 45 people attended the Open House, which was held at the Fitzsimonds Boys & Girls Club.

Residents provided input to DNR and city staff about current and future assessments of brownfields properties in the corridor.

The event was held from 4-7 p.m., with food and beverages provided.

Large maps of the 30th Street Corridor -- showing various brownfields in need of assessment, investigation, cleanup and redevelopment -- were on display at the April 22 Open House, along with other helpful information.

Local, state and federal health officials were on hand at the Open House to help answer any questions and listen to input from area residents.

Various brownfields success stories -- from initial assessment to cleanup and redevelopment -- were on display at the Open House.

City staff had a number of ongoing brownfield projects on display at the Open House, to provide the public information about the many different cleanups and redevelopments that can occur at contaminated properties.

Each map on display at the Open House was available for the public review, and DNR and city staff were on hand to answer any questions.

Information for properties the DNR and city are assessing using EPA brownfields site assessment funding were on display via this chart, which included past uses at each property, ongoing activities, and potential final redevelopment.

Area residents could access the DNR's on-line database of contaminated properties to look at brownfields in the 30th Street Corridor as well as learn about the details of the DNR's brownfields site assessment grant funding.
