How Do I Handle My Waste Materials? Managing Used or Discarded Electronics Resources Hazardous Substance Spill |
Information on Wisconsin's Electronics Recycling LawGovernor Doyle signed Wisconsin's electronics recycling legislation into law on October 23, 2009. The law, Act 50, creates an electronics recycling program for certain devices used by Wisconsin households and K-12 public schools, and will take effect January 1, 2010. The DNR is holding public stakeholder meetings and conference calls to provide information related to the electronics recycling law. The informational meetings will help stakeholders learn more about the requirements in the law and how the DNR plans to handle registration and other program elements. The meetings are free and open to the public, but will be of primary interest to the electronics manufacturers, recyclers, collectors and retailers that would be regulated under the law. Local governments currently involved in electronics recycling, or that might get involved in the future, are also encouraged to attend. For more information on the law--formerly known as SB107--and its requirements, see the DNR media kit on this topic. Conference CallsWe have scheduled two conference calls for those unable to attend the in-person meetings. To ensure we have enough phone lines, we are asking participants to register for these online [exit DNR]. Call information will be sent to all registered participants. Monday, November 16 Thursday, November 19 Registration InformationRegistration forms should be available for collectors and recyclers in early December. The registration deadline for these two groups is January 1, 2010. The registration form for manufacturers--who have a registration deadline of February 1, 2010--should be available in mid-December. We will provide more information as soon as it is available. MeetingsThe DNR held four public meetings in October and early November. View the meeting presentations using the links below.
