Revisions to Existing Rules or Creation of New Rules

The Recycling and Solid Waste Section is responsible for revisions to current rules or the creation of rules related to solid waste. The following are currently being revised or proposed by the Waste and Materials Management Program. Each individual rule page will cover:

  • Purpose and Need,
  • Process and Timeline and
  • Advisory Committee members, if applicable.

These rules are currently being developed or modified:

  • NR 528, Wis. Adm. Code. The proposed rule, Management of Accumulated Sediment from Storm Water Management Structures, provides a risk-based regulatory framework that allows an appropriate level of self regulation.
  • NR 504 and NR812, Wis. Adm. Code. Modifications of portions of each chapter are intended to reconcile conflicting provisions for variances to the required setback distance of 1200 feet between landfills and private water supply wells.
