For their service on June 27, 2001
Wardens Meyer and Manteuffel were patrolling the Wisconsin
River when they were alerted to a swimmer in distress. The
wardens responded to the area and found the swimmer desperately
trying to stay on the surface. Meyer guided the boat near
the swimmer and Manteuffel was able to grab the swimmer.
The swimmer told the wardens that without their help he
surely would have drowned.
