For their service on July 2, 2003
Wardens Peterson and Rosen were patrolling the St. Croix
river near Hudson when they heard the marine band radio
traffic regarding swimmers in distress near an island in
the Hudson Channel. Knowing that the river water levels
were very high and the current strong, they responded to
the distressed swimmers. They located one young man who
was struggling to make it to shore. The strong current was
pushing him past the safety of the island. The wardens were
able to rescue the swimmer, bring him onboard the warden
boat, and deliver him back to Minnesota.
