Warden Marty Stone Recognized with Chief's Mug for Targeting Social and Safety Concerns

Warden Marty Stone
Grant County Conservation Warden Marty Stone

Marty organized several multi-agency group checks on the Mississippi River concentrating on boat noise and OWI enforcement. These checks coincided with major river events. Many cases were made, especially in the earlier checks. Higher compliance in later checks showed the efforts were having the desired deterrent effect. Agencies participating in these group checks include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Grant and Crawford County Sheriff’s Departments in Wisconsin, Clayton and Allamakee County Sheriff’s Departments in Iowa, and local police agencies along the river. Marty’s work efforts are tied to Goal 2 of the Law Enforcement strategic plan “Enhanced Safety and Enjoyment of Outdoor Recreational Experiences.”
