River and Stream Narratives of the Upper Chippewa Basin

Below are narrative descriptions for waters for which we have a description on file. Not all waters in the basin are listed below.

Bear River, 1996

The Bear River begins at the dam on the western tip of Flambeau Lake and flows northwest until it joins with the Manitowish to form the section of the Flambeau River that flows into the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Fisheries Management data indicates that the river is a warm water sports fishery, and recent monitoring by the Lac du Flambeau Band (1992). and USGS (1991) indicate no problems with water quality.
