There are 20,000 - 40,000 species of insects known in and native to Wisconsin. Among these are two that are Federally Endangered, 16 State Endangered, 4 State Threatened, and 301 Special Concern species.

Of the 246 known snail species in and native to Wisconsin are two State Endangered, two State Threatened, and 27 Special Concern species.

Of the known 51 mussels and 30 fingernail clam species existing in and native to Wisconsin are two Federally Endangered, 11 State Endangered, seven State Threatened, and eight mussel Special Concern species.

Numbers of other known invertebrates in and native to Wisconsin ranges from 16,000 to 25,000 species, eight of which are listed as Special Concern species.
