A confirmed cougar in Northeast Minnesota, about 47 miles from the Wisconsin border.

The Wisconsin and Michigan Department of Natural resources confiscated these two cougars in Ironwood Michigan in 1995. The two cougars were held and, transported across state borders without the proper permits. The animals were transported to a certified licensed facility in Wisconsin. Authorities were told the female cougar came from California and the male came from Washington State.
