State Wildlife Grants Program - 2009-2011
The 2009-11 Request for Proposals has ended. The next round of State Wildlife Grants is anticipated for
2011-2013 with a RFP in Fall of 2010. Information and Application Materials
Tools and ResourcesBudget ConsiderationsThe State Wildlife Grant Program is a reimbursement program. This means that the grant recipient must first do work and spend non-grant money on the project. The costs and in-kind goods and services for the project must be documented as they are incurred or acquired. The costs are then reimbursed according to the terms of the grant agreement. There is a non-federal cost-share requirement for the overall State Wildlife Grant, which the Department of Natural Resources must meet. Match may be in the form of cash or in-kind contributions. The Department encourages grant recipients to provide the required matching funds. Projects without matching funds may still be considered for funding, depending on the ability of the Department to identify matching funds for the project. Projects without matching funds may receive lower priority. For example, if two similar projects rate equally well during the Technical Review, but one provides the full matching funds and the other does not, the project with more matching funds may receive preference. Projects cannot begin until project leaders have been notified by the Department of Natural Resources. Only expenses incurred and budgeted during the grant period are reimbursable; the grant period begins with the effective date established at the time the grant is approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Additional materials and training will be available for funded proposals including information about how to manage your project budget and document match, including any matching funds from third parties.
