Landowner Incentive Program Current and Past LIP Projects
Since 2006, Wisconsin has received more than 300 applications for assistance from private landowners for voluntary restoration activities. In each of these cases, Landowners are actively seeking to enhance existing populations and attract additional rare or listed species to their property.
To date, more than 2,500 privately-owned acres have been restored through LIP funding, at an average cost of less than $200.00 per acre. These projects range from 1.5 acres in size to 150 acres, and LIP-funded activities are providing a direct benefit to populations of at least 200 at-risk species known to occur at project sites, including: 6 Federally listed species (2 Endangered, 3 Threatened, 1 candidate ), 70 State Listed species, 125 Special Concern Species, and 16 Species of Greatest Conservation Need.
