Events and Programs

The park will hold an annual Candlelight Ski on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Trails

Hartman Creek State Park received about four inches of snow on Thursday, January 12. The park will not groom the ski trails until at least six inches are received, the minimum amount to provide a good base. Ski and snowshoe trails are open but conditions vary from poor to average. Bike and horse trails are closed for the season, and will reopen in the spring.

A state trail pass is required for the horse and bike trails at Hartman Creek, in addition to a vehicle admission sticker. The annual trail pass is valid on all ski, bike and horse trails in Wisconsin that require the trail pass for users 16 years and older.

Camping

The campgrounds are closed for the season. Campgrounds will reopen on April 1, 2012.

Firewood Notice: Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, firewood from out of state or from more than 25 miles away is not allowed on Wisconsin State Park or Forest properties. Also, firewood that has been in the Wisconsin emerald ash borer quarantined area [PDF 102KB] is not allowed on properties outside of the quarantined area. Please buy firewood at or near the park or forest where you are going. Call the DNR toll-free Firewood Hotline, (877) 303-WOOD ((877) 303-9663) for information before packing for a trip.

There are no overnight camping facilities for campers with horses.

Hunting

In 2012 there will be turkey hunting allowed in the park. Special regulations will apply for this hunt, so please check with the park manager if you have questions. Normally spring turkey hunting starts in mid-April and runs until mid-May.

More Information

The park's main picnic areas, Allen Lake and Hartman Lake, remain open throughout the year.

Vehicle admission stickers are available and are valid through December 31, 2012. When you arrive at the park, you will need to buy a park sticker if you don't already have one. if the office is not open, please use the self-registration box outside the office (yellow box). Instructions are on a sign next to the box.
