High Cliff State Park Conditions

Conditions as of Friday, October 3, 2008:

Fall Colors: The yellows and some oranges are out. The cooler nights are speeding up the color process. Colors are at about 40%.

Trails: All trails are open for hiking. Dogs are allowed on all trails, but must be kept on a leash. The bike/horse trails are open for the season. Biking is also allowed on all park roads.

Nature: Plenty of birds to watch and wildflowers to see.

Lake Winnebago: Conditions are good for boating. Beach users can expect to still find higher water conditions (the sand beach is mostly under water). The beach water is tested regularly for e-coli and will be posted if results indicate conditions are unsafe for swimming. The showers in the beachhouse closed mid-August. The beachhouse restrooms, as well as the restrooms / showers at the marina will close on Monday, October 13. The marina boat pump-out station will close on Sunday, October 12.

Camping: All loops of the campground are open for camping. The water fountains and water for the campground shower building will be shut off as of Monday, October 13. The sanitary dump station water will remain on until November 3. Reservations are recommended for electric sites April through October and all weekend camping May through October.
