Council Grounds State Park Conditions

Conditions as of Thursday, June 18, 2009:

Trails: All trails are in good condition. Please remember that all trails in the park are hiking trails only. Bikes must remain on paved surfaces.

Camping: The campground, showers and flush toilets are open. Sites can be reserved 11 months in advance online or by calling (888) 947-2757.

There are six first-come, first-served campsites (non-electric sites) available.

River: The docks are in at the boat landing. Fishermen have been spotted fishing by the dam. Swimmers have reported that the water temperature is finally warming up.

Nature: The mosquitoes have been thick from all of the rainfall. If visiting the park please come prepared with bug spray.

Friends: The Friends of Council Grounds State Park now rent canoes and sell firewood. Please contact the park, (715) 536-8773, for more information or if you are interested in joining the Friends.

Remember, admission stickers are required on all vehicles year round. You can self-register at the flag pole or by going to the winter office in the shop area of the park. Annual stickers for 2009 are valid from date of purchase through December 31, 2009.
