Chippewa River State Trail Conditions

Conditions as of Tuesday, October 6, 2009:

The trail is paved from Short Street in Eau Claire, to just short of Caryville. From Caryville to the Chippewa bridge the trail surface is an asphalt emulsion that is hard packed but not suitable for in-line skating.

The water fountain at the Caryville Rest Area is closed for the season

Buy your state trail pass before biking or skating on the trail. Passes can be purchased at most bike shops in Eau Claire and Luer's Grocery in Caryville next to the trail parking lot. Trail users may self-register in Eau Claire at Short Street, when attendants are not present.

Hunting

The trail is open for hunting in season from Caryville to the junction with the Red Cedar State Trail in the Dunnville Wildlife Area. There is no hunting on the trail from Eau Claire to Caryville.

More Information

If you bring a pet, keep it on a hand-held leash 8 feet or shorter at all times.
