Merrick State Park Conditions

Conditions as of Tuesday, July 22, 2008:

The Winona Bridge connecting Wisconsin and Minnesota is now open to all vehicle traffic. Pedestrians and bicycles are restricted from using the bridge until further repairs to the walkway are completed.

Trails are in good condition. Lots of wildflowers can be seen from the prairie trails.

The Mississippi River is normal. May flies have started hatching.

The prairies are a rainbow of colors with orange, yellow, white, purple, blue and pink. Flowers blooming include Queen Ann's lace [exit DNR], blue vervain [exit DNR], black-eyed Susan [exit DNR], and purple coneflowers.

Campgrounds: All campgrounds are open.

Vehicles must have a park sticker attached before parking in the park. The 2008 annual park stickers and trail passes are available for sale. Visitors may buy them through the self-registration box at the entrance to the park.
