Become a Member of the
Friends of Blue Mound State Park
Would you like to get more involved in helping Blue Mound State
Park? Consider joining the Friends
of Blue Mound State Park [exit DNR]. This is a group of volunteers
working together to benefit the park by enhancing and preserving
its natural resources while offering activities and project to
improve the park guest visit.
Members have the opportunity to share their skills and talents with others while enjoying the park. Members can be as active in the group as their schedules permit. A major time commitment isn’t necessary but members are welcome to volunteer as much as they want.
Throughout the years, the Friends of Blue Mound State Park have made significant and generous contributions to the park. Some examples include:
- Playing a key role in funding and building the accessible cabin
- Purchasing new play equipment
- Aiding in Prairie and Oak Savanna Restoration
- Constructing a sun arbor for the swimming pool
- Contributing funds for the park entrance sign
- Coordinating the annual candle light ski events
- Bike trail clean up
- Contributing funds for exhibits in the park nature center
- Bridge and culvert repair on park trails
- Purchasing trail and cross-country ski equipment.
A current project is raising funds to replace the park's swimming pool.
A partnership between a friends group and the park can provide the added services the visitors want and the staff alone can not provide.
