Buckhorn and Roche-A-Cri State Parks
Amateur Photography Contest

The annual photo contest is held at Buckhorn and Roche-A-Cri State Parks and organized by the parks' friends groups. Bring your camera along when enjoying the many activities each park offers!

Contest Categories:

1. Plants (wildflowers, shrubs, and trees)
2. Wildlife (animals, insects, etc.)

3. People Using the Park (may need model release in some cases)
4. Open (landscapes, etc.)
5. Youth (Photographer must be under age 18. Photos can be of anything at the park).

Contest Rules:

1. All pictures must be taken within the boundaries of Buckhorn or Roche-A-Cri State Park between October 1 and September 30 of the next year.
2. A separate contest will be run at each park. (You may enter pictures in all four categories at BOTH parks). Only two photos per category may be submitted (total of 16 per photographer).
3. Photos submitted may be black and white or color prints. Prints should not be larger than 4 by 6 inches. Digital photos must be printed on paper. Do not frame or mount photos.
4. Please label the back of each photo with name, address, phone number, category, age (if entering the youth category) and whether picture was taken at Buckhorn or Roche-A-Cri.
5. If you would like to have your photos returned, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage.
6. Any photo entered may be copied by Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources or the two Friends Groups to be used for displays or in publications.
7. The contest is open to all park visitors except judges, park employees, and members of the friends group.
8. All photos submitted must have negatives available upon request. Photos may be sent or delivered by September 30, to:

Judging: A panel of judges will determine the winners. The judges will include representatives of the Friends of Roche-A-Cri State Park, Friends of Buckhorn State Park, and one of the local newspapers.

Winners: First Place winners will receive a $25 gift certificate from one of the sponsors. Names of the winners will be announced on radio stations WRJC (AM1270, FM92.1) Mauston and on WDKM (106.1FM), Friendship. The first place winning photos will be printed in the Messenger of Juneau County (Elroy), Star Times (Mauston), and Times-Reporter (Adams/Friendship) newspapers. The pictures will also be displayed for two weeks at Mauston and Adams County libraries and will be displayed in the Buckhorn and Roche-A-Cri offices for the rest of the year. Second place winners will receive a $10 gift certificate from one of the sponsors .
