Devil's Lake State Park
Facilities and Services in the Campgrounds
Concessions
- Concession
stores at the north and south ends of the lake and in the Ice Age Campground are open all summer and some spring and fall weekends. The stores sell food and groceries,
basic camp items, ice, firewood, souvenirs, shirts and hats. Proceeds
from nonprofit stores' sales go to the park and are used to enhance
customer services.

Dump and Fill Stations are free for use by registered campers. Unregistered camping vehicles may use the dump station for a fee of $3 and purchase of an hourly park pass. Dump stations are closed in the off-season to prevent freeze damage, usually from mid-October through mid-April. Other dump stations are in Baraboo.
Campground Hosts - In the summer, campground hosts are available at
varying hours to help you with park and local information. Each of the
four campground areas has a labeled camp host site. Some of these volunteer
hosts also donate their time and skills in other areas of the park, so
you may see them driving a tractor, working in the Visitor Center, or
directing traffic. Campground hosts can be found at campsites 60, 150,
345, and 437.
Water, Rest Rooms, and Showers - running water for drinking and other uses at campsites is available at dozens of taps scattered throughout the family and group camp areas. Some water taps include drinking fountains.
There are ten running water rest room/shower buildings for use by registered campers in the family campgrounds. Each building has sinks, mirrors, electrical outlets, toilets, and individual shower stalls. There is no additional charge for use of showers. Running water buildings are closed and locked and water taps are turned off from about October 15 to April 15, depending on temperatures.
Firewood - Natural wood from the forest may be gathered for use
in your campfire as long as it is both dead and on the ground. Bundles
of firewood are for sale in the Visitor Center, the north shore Chateau,
and the Camp Store. We prefer that you not bring your own firewood because
of the chance of bringing in plant diseases and pests with the wood. Bringing
firewood from more than 50 miles from the park is prohibited.
Trash - Wisconsin State Parks have a "carry in, carry out"
policy on trash. You should plan to bag all your trash and carry
it home to dispose of. Campsites, buildings, and picnic areas,
do not have trashcans. However, there are some dumpsters in the
campgrounds and picnic areas for your use if necessary. Bins are
also available for recyclable items of glass, plastic, aluminum
and tin.
Church Services - A list of local area churches is available
in the Visitor Center.
Telephones - Each of the four campground areas has one
pay phone, usually near a center restroom building. Other pay phones are at the north shore Visitor Center and the south shore contact station. There is cell phone service in the area, although some low-lying areas in the park have poor reception.
Self-Registration - A self-registration station for campers is available on the north shore adjacent to the Visitor Center. The self-registration system may be used only when the Visitor Center is closed, campsites are available and registration is completed and the campsite occupied before 11 p.m. Registration procedures provided at the window of the Visitor Center must be followed before occupying a site. Self-registration is not available during the summer.
When the Campground is Full - Camping is allowed only in designated
camping areas and designated campsites, not in the backcountry, along
trails, or in parking areas. There is no overflow camping area for when
the campsites are filled. Mirror Lake State
Park sometimes has vacancies when Devil's Lake State Park is filled.
Three private campgrounds are directly outside park borders, and there
are at least two dozen other private campgrounds in Sauk County.
