Visitor Services

Every spring Peninsula recruits about 25 seasonal employees. For details and an application form, and deadlines, check the Department of Natural Resources Limited-Term Jobs page or ask Peninsula State Park, P.O. Box 218, Fish Creek, WI 54212-0218, (920) 868-3258. Housing may be available for reasonable rent. Positions include:

Visitor Services—Greet visitors, process sticker sales, and register campers. Customer service skills, computer knowledge required.

Park Maintenance—Clean shower/toilet buildings. Paint buildings; clean grounds; perform minor construction; do trail, road, turf and shrub maintenance; operate equipment. Safety footwear and valid driver license required.

Ranger—Enforce all Wisconsin State Statutes and Department of Natural Resources administrative codes. A separate application and resume are also needed.

Assistant Naturalist—Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing the park's interpretive programs. Conduct guided hikes and evening programs. Staff Nature Center. Experience and education in natural history, ecology and interpretive techniques required.

Volunteering

Each year, about 200 people volunteer nearly 7,000 hours to Peninsula State Park. Their time and talent is greatly appreciated.

Camp Host—Camp at an assigned site in one of four Peninsula campgrounds in exchange for performing light maintenance and offering visitor information.

Nature Center Host—Camp at an assigned site in exchange for staffing the Nature Center, performing light maintenance, and assisting as some programs.

Scout and Youth Groups—Peninsula welcomes the opportunity to work scouts on short and long term projects. Groups must provide adult supervision. Individuals must be able to work independently. Eagle Scout Project ideas are available on request.

Historical Research and Archives—Some library research can be done in your own community. Other projects involve cataloguing historical photos and artifacts on site.

Intern—Peninsula welcome interns working towards college credit. Intern responsibilities at Peninsula focus on invasive species management and education.

Nature Center—Short term projects and help with staffing the center.

Peninsula Steward—Help restore or improve Peninsula's natural resources by pulling garlic mustard, inventorying trails for invasive species, and other preservation projects. Long or short term projects available.
