As a representative of the Department of Natural Resources, a visitor services volunteer:

  • Assists park visitors with vehicle admission sticker sales, campsite registrations and trail pass sales.
  • Advises, assists and informs visitors of regulations and available facilities on the property and local area.
  • Answers phone questions pertaining to the park, forest or trail.
  • Relays phone calls and messages to appropriate staff members.
  • Assists visitors with gift shop purchases.
  • Handles the collection and return of "lost and found" items.
  • Is alert to visitors' needs, comments, complaints, etc.

Visitor services volunteers are selected based on interests and familiarity with the park system, customer service experience, interpretive experience and natural/cultural history knowledge of the surrounding area. If you're interested in becoming one, send a volunteer application to the park or forest where you'd like to work.
