Wisconsin Urban Waterfowl Task Force, Final Report and Recommendations

The report represents the opinions and recommendations of the Wisconsin Urban Waterfowl Task Force (UWTF). The UWTF consisted of 15 citizens of the State of Wisconsin representing a wide range of interest groups from both local government and non government organizations. They included: the agricultural community, Wisconsin Society of Ornithology, Municipal Government, animal welfare, Wisconsin's Association of Lakes, Conservation Congress, animal rights, Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Municipal Parks, Wisconsin Audubon Council, Golf Courses, hunting and conservation alliances, Wisconsin Public Education, and commercial and residential interests. The UWTF was convened by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in an effort to identify techniques that would address the nuisance situations that the UWTF felt would be socially acceptable to residents of Wisconsin.

The report has chapters on the history, testimony from biologists, problem recognition and considerations, population control options and the management program process. The report also contains a position statement and minority report. The report is 70 pages.

The report does not represent the opinion nor is the report current policy of the Department of Natural Resources, its governing body, the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board, or the State of Wisconsin. The report recommendations will be reviewed by the Department of Natural Resources and submitted to the Natural Resources Board for consideration of the report and recommendations that require Natural Resources Board action for incorporation into department policy.
