Chronic Wasting Disease Maps

On this page you’ll find maps showing the currently known distribution of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Wisconsin’s wild deer herd. These maps are based on disease surveillance conducted since 2001. You’ll also find maps showing prevalence of CWD in the zones, helicopter survey data and the boundaries of Wisconsin’s herd reduction zone (HRZ) and disease eradication zones (DEZ).

This map displays the estimated prevalence of CWD per square mile within the CWD zones. It is based on testing data collected from 2002-2006.




2008 Helicopter Survey Maps

These maps display the number of deer seen during helicopter surveys conducted this winter. Sections represented by a number were flown once and the number displayed is how many deer were counted during this flight. For sections not represented by a number, no helicopter survey was conducted.

These maps display the number of deer seen during helicopter surveys conducted last winter. Sections represented by a number were flown once and the number displayed is how many deer were counted during this flight. For sections not represented by a number, no helicopter survey was conducted.

CWD Zone Boundaries

These maps show the boundaries of Wisconsin’s HRZ and DEZs. They are presented by year since some of the CWD zone and DMU boundaries have changed throughout the years.
