Horicon Friends GroupThe "Friends" is an important citizen support group for the development of the Horicon Marsh International Education Center. This group was founded on September 6, 1994. The organization's purpose is to encourage, perpetuate and promote the work of natural resources and conservation education in Wisconsin. As a support group to the education program our goal is to provide volunteer assistance and funding necessary for the effective operation of the Education Center. Additionally, this organization is coordinating the activities for the development of the Horicon Marsh International Education Center. Currently, a $5.1 million fund raising campaign is underway to complete a world-class education facility at Horicon Marsh. This Center will expand the education program through exhibits, displays, an auditorium, classrooms, and a spectacular view and access to the Horicon Marsh. Volunteer OpportunitiesThe Education Staff at DNR’s Horicon Marsh Wildlife Education Center can arrange volunteer opportunities for you. To set up a project in the surrounding community, please contact us. Through our volunteer program, the Friends Gift Shop and other projects we strive to enhance the quality of the visitor experience at Horicon Marsh - A Wetland of International Importance and a Globally Important Bird Area.
