Revised New Berlin Application for Review/CommentA copy of the revised New Berlin application for the use of Lake Michigan water is available for public review and comment. Public comments on the original application were accepted during a 60 day comment period last fall. In response to those comments, DNR asked New Berlin to respond to more than two dozen issues raised by Wisconsin citizens and other jurisdictions in the Great Lakes Basin. The amended application is attached for public review and comment. The Department is also seeking comment on the process this type of application should follow in the future. When adopted in Wisconsin, the recently signed Great Lakes Compact will include implementing legislation to address this issue in this state. Currently, Wisconsin does not have a statutory procedure for handling this type of application for Great Lakes water. The Department is interested in receiving input on how best to design that process, both for the implementing legislation and for any other applications that may be received prior to the passage of the Great Lakes Compact. Your feedback on both issues may be sent to DG Mailbox. Last Revised: Friday May 18 2007
