Wisconsin WatershedsStormy Lake, Photo by Lisa Wenholz. Wisconsin's abundant surface water extends over 330 Watersheds throughout the state. Stewards of this aquatic wealth are all around us! Simply stated, these stewards are "you and me". Whether we realize it or not, we affect the health of our local watershed with the actions we do -- and with actions we don't do... All around us citizens, schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations are stepping up and learning about their watersheds -- and taking action to protect, restore, monitor, and teach about our special resources. Wisconsin DNR is working on providing details about your local watershed online, to improve access to your water information and to help you become a watershed leader in your neighborhood. On Wisconsin's Watershed Planning pages (see left), you will find information on developing a watershed plan in your area, as well as data and resource summaries about your special lake, river or wetland. To find out more, contact DNR's Watershed Planning Program or a Watershed Supervisor near you! Last Revised: Saturday March 01 2008
