American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The ARRA appropriates funding for more than 130 different state and federal programs.

The majority of the funds will flow through existing state programs and existing formulas. Wisconsin is moving federal recovery funds to create jobs for hardworking people in the state while ensuring that the use of funds is open, transparent and accountable. The Office of Recovery and Reinvestment and Wisconsin's state agencies are working with communities, the private sector and other stakeholders to put recovery money to work here in Wisconsin to advance shared priorities like protecting our environment.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act presents us with enormous opportunities to work together to move Wisconsin forward. This page provides links to DNR programs regarding ARRA funds. More information can be found on the Governor's Office of Recovery and Reinvestment site.

Air

The Air Program has received federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to partner with diesel fleet operators on various projects to reduce emissions and save fuel. The funding will allow selected fleet operators to reduce diesel emissions by undertaking projects such as installing idle reduction and exhaust control devices, upgrading older engines, and repowering to newer, cleaner engines. The program will target all diesel equipment: on-road vehicles, off-road equipment, and stationary engines. For more information, please visit the ARRA Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant Program web page.

Forestry

The Northeastern Area of the United States Forest Service is now deciding which projects from across the Region they wish to fund. While it is likely that Wisconsin applicants will receive funding - mostly directly without any further State involvement - there can be no guarantee that the State of Wisconsin will receive any funding for our own projects.
