County Land & Water Resource Management PlansThe Wisconsin Legislature established the Land and Water Resource Management Planning Program (LWRMP) in 1997 as part of the State's redesigned Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program. The state Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection (DATCP) administers this planning program under Chapter ATCP 50. The LWRMP is an important tool that counties use to plan local activities to implement state performance standards and prohibitions in DNR Administrative Rule NR 151 (Runoff Management) and soil conservation practices identified in DATCP rule ATCP 50 (Soil and Water Resource Program). Much of the water resource information is obtained from DNR resource management plans and databases. DNR staff are asked to contribute to development of the county LWRMP. DNR involvement helps assure that water resources information used in the plan is up to date and that interagency coordination on resource management issues can be optimized.
